In the pre-WWW days, when the Internet comprised mostly chat boards populated by college kids, they had a phrase, “Eternal September.” It came from the first month of the fall semester, when newbies arrived, hooked up their PC to the ISP, and started asking the same questions (and sharing the same memes) that the more experienced participants had seen over and over.
Today, every boy/man who discovers he can talk about his foreskin online has the same questions, and “What do women think?” is among the first. And unfortunately they tend to ask without checking to see how many times it’s been asked and answered before.
Some just want a personal touch to their answer, a feeling of “I’m not alone in this.”
And the flip side of this (and Eternal September) is that many, many Internet users are dopamine addicts. Reposts offend them, not least because they serve as reminders of how much time one can waste scrolling Internet discussion boards.
