androgynousforeskindefender I don’t view those as contradictory in any way. You can both view something as wrong but also fetishize it. The key is to make sure to compartmentalize those two thoughts and are able to separate “I find circumcision morally wrong” and “I am turned on by the idea of circumcision”. You can’t control what turns you on. As long as no one is getting hurt and everyone involved is a consenting adult, who cares.
This is a bit of a tangent that might be a touch off topic, but I think it’s related enough to merit posting here:
I’ve seen people post how disgusting they find it that some women say that they prefer circumcised men. The way I see it, they can’t control what they like. Sure, sometimes that may be from lack of exposure or ignorance, but some people genuinely have a preference and they can’t control what they prefer. However, where I think the line is crossed is if the rational is “I prefer circumcised men, therefor my son should be circumcised.” I think a woman who can simultaneously hold the thought “I prefer circumcised partners” and “I don’t think it is morally acceptable to circumcise my son.” is someone that deserves respect, because that requires some nuanced thought and openness. When people post that all woman who like circumcised men are ignorant on the topic or that it’s disgusting that they prefer mutilated men, that’s going to shut them down. Ideally, the conversation should be aimed at helping them to differentiate between their personal preference and what is best for their potential sons. I think a good analogy is this, lets assume my wife had a breast reduction to help with back pain. Lets then assume that, after the reduction, I appreciated the new found perkiness and how the reduced sensation allowed for rougher play. Lets even assume that I found the scars sexy. In that scenario, do I have a moral issue in finding my wife attractive? Obviously not. If it were possible to perform a breast reduction on an infant, would that be extremely morally problematic? Yes, absolutely. Or do the same thing with any other sexualized cosmetic sugary: labiaplasty, boobjob, penile fillers, etc. If feel like that is obvious when talking about those, but when talking about foreskin, the social climate seems to look at it differently.
Circling back to the original post, I think having a fetish about circumcision and thinking that forced circumcision is wrong is the same as having a fetish about fake breasts but thinking that forced boob jobs are wrong. Like what you like and know what it right and wrong.
