Why were you left intact?

Many have likely shared something in various posts over the years, but the question I’m specifically asking here is why were you left intact? Regional norm, religious affiliation, parental preference, or some other reason?

A few years ago my wife asked my mom who I was left intact in a region where most every male was routinely circumcised at birth. Mother stated that she was pro-circumcision, but my father (deceased) was circumcised and always stated his wish that he had not been cut at birth. He demanded his boys be left uncut.

Kinda mixed answer for me between regional and other.

I was born in a small town in an otherwise average state for circumcisions. The U.S. national RIC rate was about 85 percent that year.

But our town only had one doctor, and he wouldn’t do routine circumcisions.

I imagine that whole area is Team Foreskin even today.

Born to immigrants parents; circumcision is not a thing in our culture. They said they definitely considered it because many boys get it done in America but thought why put me thru that..

My buddy was gonna get it done with his brothers, but the one who was chosen to get it done first made a huge scene, and the parents thought, why are we even making them do this.. they were something like 6, 5, and 3 at the time.

The peer pressure can be strong >_<

Mom told me one time that one of the boys she went to school with was a victim of a botched circumcision and he basically had no penis. She felt terrible for him as it basically ruined his life as you can imagine. Guy never married, never even bothered to try and have a girlfriend.

Then she said when my older brother was born the doctor told her it was completely unnecessary and strongly urged her not to do it so we both dodged that bullet.

Born in the Midwest, but southeast Asian immigrant parents and it is not done culturally. My wife and I decided to leave our son intact as it’s his choice to make later on if he wants it done. Wanted to get cut as an adult, glad I found a wife who is against it and likes that I’m intact and left our son that way as well.

Both of my parents are european. I was born here but my dad immigrated here. Pretty simple for me. Never asked any details

nick_jones61 no my wife is not SE Asian. She’s a quarter Armenian, and the other ¾ is Viking, german, and a whole bunch of other European blood. She’s experienced intact prior to me and it was an easy decision to make

It something not done in my culture. Father, uncles, male cousins all left intact. My nephews are all cut. My sisters married American men and I guess it just followed. I know their husbands were all circumcised.

I was born prematurely. Was going to be cut if I made it to term, to fit in, but according to my mom, I was suffering enough and she didn’t want to put me through anything worse.
