Wife circumcising.

My wife is pregnant with our first boy and even though she loves my foreskin I have a feeling she is going to feel differently when it comes down to choosing whether or not to circumcise our child. Have you guys experienced this? Or were you surprised when it came down to this subject? All opinions and comments welcome. Cheers!

I was surprised at my wife's opinion on circumcision too. Her's family is a bunch of hippies but she "thinks it cleaner." I just told if he have a son its not happening and that was that. But if the doctor was pushing for it, I think she would try to convince me to do it.

OneManArmy and Camel got it right. It isn't about whether she has a say, but ultimately she doesn't have one, she shouldn't make calls and.... let's be real, its a MAN-to-MAN decision. As a man, I would appreciate my parent's/ father giving me the decision regarding my body. It's your son's body, not your wife's, not yours. Let the child be.

I am surprised how many women or wives try to have a say. Yes its their son too but I think son circumcision should be the father's decision. Women don't go through it if something only effects women then they can choose what happens. I find it weird if your wife loves your foreskin so much why she wouldn't want your son to have the same?

She loves your foreskin but you think she’d want to cut your son? This doesn’t really make sense. Have you talked about it? I knew where my wife stood on the matter very early into dating and if she felt differently than me it definitely would’ve been a big problem.

Legally this is not usually true (it differs from state to state) quite often only one parent needs to sign off. As for "MAN-to-MAN" decision there is something perverse about this logic. Obviously this is her child to, and I'm sure there are plenty of examples of the opposite (A man wants the procedure performed and the mother does not). The bottom line for me is that circumcision is at best a kind of cosmetic surgery and is more accurately a kind of gentile mutilation, obviously an infant can't consent. FMG was finally made illegal in the united states, but ask her how she would feel about having some part of her daughters gentiles amputated at birth. If she's insisting on this I would point out that the boy can always have the procedure done when he's a little older and better able to understand the ramifications.
