Recurring Penile Yeast Infection in Uncircumcised Men

I picked up a penile yeast infection from sex with my girl friend while she had one a yeast infection. Standard treatments with oral and topical anti-fungal medications (fluconazole, ketoconazole cream) were ineffective, and I still had recurring out breaks a couple months after being treated. So I had to see a urologist, he said that this was not uncommon in uncircumcised men, that the rubbing of the foreskin against the glans created enough irritation to create an opening for the yeast. He prescribed a combination anti-fungal / steroid cream, so far it seems to be working but I’m not sure what will happen when I stop treatment.

Interestingly the symptoms are totally different from what vaginal yeast infections are like. Very little to no pain. Intermittently (for a few days every 2 to 3 weeks) I experienced a little redness, increased sensitivity and what looked like very small cuts or abrasions on the head of the penis in 1 or 2 places. Honestly it increased my sexual arousal probably because my glans were more exposed due to the irritation, but I don’t think its good for the long term health of my gentiles also its not really all that fun to have uncontrollable sensitivity and arousal distracting you when your trying to work etc. :blush:

Has any one else experienced this or knows some one who has? I am interested in what the prognosis is and what treatments were used.

I’ve had this from being with women with yeast infections. Strong and legit tea tree oil does the trick

Be aware that you can pass it back and forth like ping pong! It's important for both you and your wife or gf to complete the full course of meds.

You can also try doing a kind of reset of your penile flora. If you're loose enough, you can try keeping your foreskin retracted all day for a few days (just during the day, definitely not during the night when it can get stuck without you realizing it). Probably best on some days when you don't have a lot going on since if you need to walk around a lot the friction might be way too intense. I've heard of this really helping some people.

Yea we started using condoms after that and have since broken up.

I tried that for a little while, I think I would have to do that for weeks to make any difference and would probably have to use medical tape, meanwhile my glands will be come more calloused and desensitized. I feel like there should be a simpler medical solution for this issue as its probably not uncommon in Europe.

I learned to use paper first aid tape to hold my foreskin open while the dry spray miconazole killed the yeast.

Paper only; the regular vinyl tape is too sticky. Rinse it off with soapy water when done.

Try not to get tape on the membrane side of the foreskin.

Leave your exposed penis outside your underwear while treating it. May have to park your scrotum out there, too.

The important part is keeping the surfaces dry throughout the treatment.

I threw out my old underwear in case it was re-infecting me. Might not have to do that.

It can take time to get rid of the yeast.

I dunno... Keeping your skin back all day could dry things out and irritate.

Along the lines of underwear, I don't know about throwing it out but maybe adding some bleach to the laundry? And make sure any towels are fully dry and bleached etc.
