Muniath1 86% of Russians support the war.
What that survey question actually indicates is that “86.7% of Russians are ready to endure the continuation of the war in Ukraine over the next two years”. It says nothing about their support or otherwise, only their preparedness for putting up with whatever trifles they’re currently experiencing from the sanctions and ignominy.
The same survey also said that “77% of Russians are confident in the strengthening of Russia’s international prestige”, as a result of the war. Maybe with China, North Korea, and Iran but they’re going to be dog shit with everyone else apart from India who wants Russia’s weapons and oil.
I’ve no doubt that lots of Russian bot accounts and some actual Russian people on VK are apparently supportive of the war. There were lots of accounts on Twitter that thought that Donald Trump was the second coming of the Messiah and there are heaps of people frothing, right now, on Facebook, Youtube, Telegram, whatever that 5G mobile technology is controlling chips in our heads and that the World Government / Jews / Lizard People are going to lock the population up in “15-minute cities”.
To be clear, I think that it’s probable that the majority of the Russian general population are, broadly, in favour of the war (or at least, not against it), in much the same way that surveys in the US show that the majority of women prefer circumcised penises, and for much the same reason - ignorance.
