Ugh [groan], blame the writers who are so out of touch with the real world, and certainly with the generation that they're writing for.
"Also, isn't everyone circumcised now?"
Whoever wrote that either has no idea that circ rates in the US have been falling for more than three decades or is intentionally pushing a false narrative.

good lord, those characters are the worst for multiple reasons. I was considering checking that show out, but not now
I don't think you're in the show's target demographic (in any parameter)! The whole interaction was pretty unbelievable. Millennial women only talk like that in these types of shows or if they're copying characters in those shows.

Strange that you can still get away with body shaming in 2021. If it were two dudes saying how fat a girl was the show would be cancelled.
This.

Ya that annoys me. It feels like a convo that happened 25 years ago
Exactly. Prob because it was written by someone in their 40s/50s who hasn't kept up with the way the rest of the country has been changing or who has an anti-foreskin agenda.

This shit is usually written by insecure men with dicks that don't feel shit. It's textbook projection. Gen Z chicks fucking love uncut meat.
That is exactly what I was going to write. It's men projecting their own insecurities onto the characters that they write for.
This is another one of those "only in the US" things. I don't recall seeing this type of conversation in shows from other countries but it gets shoehorned into so many TV series written in the US. And it's almost always very negative, usually quoting myths that were debunked years ago.
When I have seen it come up in non-US shows it's always been within some relevant context such as (for example) identifying a crime suspect - it's mentioned and the story moves on. Nobody goes on about how dirty/smelly/weird having a foreskin is.
If anyone's interested, here's a short article on how circumcision is treated in TV shows, with a comprehensive list of mentions.
