by skepticism, do you mean you don't believe her story about phimosis? it's possible. it doesn't look like an at birth cut. and that's some of the talk i was getting at when i mentioned compare and talk. i want to hear about if it was from birth or later, or why, etc. like Sasha De Sade is from the UK but cut. Someone from here responded saying they asked her and she made it seem like no big deal. So not sure when or why it was done.
Oh, no, I don't doubt that she was cut at 7. I doubt that it was medically necessary, as a large percentage of foreskins are not retractable at that age. That's normal and doesn't require circumcision (or any intervention).
Oh, I see what you mean. I agree.
This happens a lot. When and where I was born about 99% of baby boys were circumcised at birth without even asking for consent from the mother, but I was premature, and the ObGyn recommended against it, so it was never done. Fast forward about 7 years, and seeing a new pediatrician for the first time in Los Angeles after the previous one who had seen me every year since age 2 had retired, and he tried to retract the foreskin and said I might be a candidate for circumcision.
My mom, who was doing a crossword puzzle, popped up her head and said "What? Have you never seen a foreskin before? You know they come as standard equipment, and I am well aware how they work, and obviously you don't, since everybody who paid attention in medical school knows that they retract on their own timeline, not yours"
After the appointment ended, we go up to the receptionist before leaving, and I'll never forget this, as she said "When can I schedule your next appointment, my mom shot back in front of the entire waiting room, "Can you refer us to a pediatrician who has a foreskin, or at least one who understands what one is and how they work? I'll wait while you make the calls"
